Nancy Mugele is the Assistant Head of School for External Relations at Roland Park Country School, an independent K-12 college preparatory school for girls in Baltimore, where she oversees marketing, media relations, community relations, as well as the Kaleidoscope Lifelong Learning program and facilities rental. Nancy has just been appointed to serve as the Head of Kent School in Chestertown, MD beginning July 1, 2016.
Nancy has spoken extensively to students, teachers and parents on the issue of media influence and the development of girls’ sense of self. Nancy is the Crisis Communication and Media Specialist for The DEAKGroup, a consortium of education professionals, who offer consulting on a wide variety of specialized topics that meet the needs of today’s schools. Nancy is an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Professional Studies in Business and Education and teaches Public Relations, Marketing and Fundraising for Independent Schools. She is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools where she also served as its Interim Executive Director during a leadership transition. Nancy is also a member of the Board of the Lillie May Carroll Jackson charter school for girls in Grades 5-8 in Baltimore City.
Prior to working in the education field, Nancy spent ten years working in the advertising and marketing industries on such clients as National Geographic Magazine, Domino Sugar, Johnson & Johnson baby products and Noxell skincare and cosmetics products. She worked at a New York agency then later moved to Baltimore to work on the brand side developing seasonal shades of Lipsticks and Nail Polishes.
Nancy is a published poet and avid reader. She resides in Baltimore with her husband Jim, daughters Jenna (Davidson College, 2012) and Kelsy (High Point University, 2014), and son James who is a senior at the University of Vermont.
